It's the little things that remind you that you are far from home.

The life-force of Guinea (aside from drums), and we had access to plenty of it, always in liter bottles and always needed. Especially on the dance floor, on the magbana, by one's toothbrush, with meals, on hikes and at the super sweaty markets.



My breakfast beverage of choice. Always instant, with sugar and sweetened condensed milk.

I don't usually smoke cigarettes but the designer in me kept gravitating to this package, and a few of my fellow trippers who shall remain nameless, smoked like chimney's on this adventure. Wooed by cool packaging and peer pressure I smoked a few. Locals prefer Gladstone brand it seems, or better yet American smokes.

PS I don't usually eat meat either but when in Rome . . .

Ah yes and the matches with which to light the smokes! One of my dance teachers happily traded me a box for a lighter.
